NCDC Players Of The Week: February 14, 2023

North Division 

Forward: Benjamin Jenkinson, South Shore Kings 

Jenkinson (‘02/Nantucket, Mass.) has passed his first year totals of 36 points by putting up a 3-1-4 line in his two games played over the last week, pushing him to 38 points in 39 games this year. He had a two-goal performance against the Boston Advantage on Feb. 11 that saw him score the first goal and the insurance goal. The NCDC All-Star has 74 points in 88 games.  

Defense: Damon Bossie, Twin City Thunder

A true homegrown success story, Bossie (‘04/Lewiston, Maine) has now played in 79 USPHL games, 13 of which saw him at the NCDC level after being called up from the Thunder’s USPHL Premier team, with which he spent two years. A Lewiston High School graduate, Bossie put up an assist and had a +2, a blocked shot and a hit to his credit over the week and now has four assists in 13 NCDC contests. 

Goaltender: Trey Miller, Twin City Thunder

Miller (‘02/Columbus, Ohio) is in his third NCDC season and first with the Thunder. He put up the NCDC’s best two-game performance this past weekend, giving up just one shot out of 67 in 120 minutes of hockey for a .985 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average. He shut out one of the NCDC’s top teams in the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs with 29 saves, and gave up just one of 38 shots against the Islanders Hockey Club. He is 9-9-0-1 with a 2.59 GAA and .926 save percentage on the season with two shutouts. 

South Division 

Forward: Tamas Toth, Connecticut Jr. Rangers

Toth, an ‘03 from Hungary who has represented his home country in multiple IIHF championship events already, put up four goals and an assist over the last week. He had two in each of the Jr. Rangers two wins against Utica over a 2-1 weekend. Toth, who moved up to the NCDC after a full season in the USPHL Premier last year, now has 28 points in 35 games. 

Defense: Sean Melso, Jersey Hitmen

There is no stopping the machine that is Sean Melso, as he put up another two goals and two assists to expand his lead in the all-time defenseman scoring race, moving up to 112 points in 130 games over three seasons. With one more point, Melso will become the only NCDC blueliner in the top 10 all-time for NCDC scoring. For this season, Melso – another selection to next Tuesday’s NCDC All-Star Game – has 38 points in 41 games. 

Goaltender: Mason Joseph, Connecticut Jr. Rangers

Another All-Star Game selection, Joseph (‘03/Cumberland, R.I.) is tied right now for second all-time in save percentage in the NCDC with a .939 mark in 26 career games (all played in this, his first season). Most recently, Joseph went 2-1 over the weekend for Connecticut, stopping 112 of 120 shots against across three games. His best was Game 1 of the series, in which he stopped 37 of 38. His .939 is good for third in the NCDC and he’s also top five in wins (14) and goals against average (2.37).
